SCIENTIFIC PROJECT

"Across Borders and Barreaux: Developing Transatlantic Knowledge on Addiction Care in Correctional and Community Settings"

This project will conduct a comparative analysis of French and US correctional addiction care while establishing partnerships between addiction training programs in the US, France, and in other countries. With only 13% of US jails offering medications for Opioid Use Disorder to all detainees, France's approach guaranteeing all substance use disorder treatments in all prisons can guide US improvements. Research will employ mixed-methods analysis of national implementation and staff attitudes within a model university hospital/prison partnership. The teaching element will aim to create sustainable international connections via joint teleconferences. Expected outcomes include policy recommendations and ongoing collaboration frameworks.
