NETIAS annual meeting at Iméra Marseille
From October 12, 2026 to October 13, 2026
The Collegium de Lyon took part in the annual meeting of the European Network of Institutes for Advanced Study (NETIAS), which was held on 12 and 13 October 2026 at the Institute for Advanced Study at Aix-Marseille University (Iméra) for two days of work and discussions.
This meeting presented a valuable opportunity to discuss international cooperation, interdisciplinarity, and the challenges faced by institutes of advanced study.
Participants took part in several working sessions, focusing particularly on funding, joint initiatives between institutes, and communication. Working groups also allowed participants to explore several key themes in greater depth, such as the relationship between the arts and sciences, supporting and welcoming researchers at risk, and interdisciplinary practices. These discussions enabled participants to share experiences and compare the various institutes' approaches.
The meeting also enabled participants to gain a broader insight into Iméra’s activities. Notably, artist Josune Urrutia Asua, Iméra’s 2025–2026 senior fellow, led a workshop in which she invited representatives from various institutes to reconsider the challenges they face and how they might address them.
Thanks to the support of the Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes Region, this visit to Marseille also provided an opportunity to strengthen cooperation between institutes for advanced study and foster new prospects for international collaboration in interdisciplinary research.
