Robert Pyka : Looking for social innovation places in Metropolises
On The December 14, 2020
In my presentation I will focus on metropolises which cumulate the most important challenges. At the same time metropolises can be seen as a promise of a better future.
Metropolitan areas foster relationship density, experimentation, and the combination of skills necessary for creativity, emergence of new ideas and finding solutions for complex social challenges. I will present the model of “innovation place” and its theoretical components which should enable the catching and perceiving of the sources of social innovations in metropolises. I will explain the methodology and present state of my research project that I’m conducting in metropolitan areas of Lyon and Saint-Etienne.
Robert Pyka is professor of sociology at the University of Silesia in Katowice (Poland), and the Deputy Dean for Research and Internationalisation at the Faculty of Social Sciences and a 2020-2021 fellow at the Collegium de Lyon.
