SCIENTIFIC PROJECT

"Exploration-Exploitation Dilemma in Joint Value-Based Decisions in Humans "

This project investigates how people make value-based decisions together, addressing a major gap in decision science. While much research has focused on how individuals weigh risks and rewards, little is known about how teams navigate these choices in face-to-face interactions. The project explores whether teams can make better economic decisions than individuals and how they balance exploring new options versus sticking with known rewards—a dilemma known as the "exploration-exploitation tradeoff."

By combining insights from psychology, neuroscience, and behavioral economics, this research introduces a novel experimental approach. It examines how social interactions shape decision-making, moving beyond traditional studies that reduce social influence to symbols on a screen. The findings will have broad applications, from improving teamwork in business and policy-making to understanding how groups solve complex problems.

In collaboration with the Neuroeconomics Laboratory at ISC-MJ in Lyon, this project lays the foundation for a long-term research partnership. Future developments will incorporate cutting-edge AI tools and neuroimaging to deepen our understanding of collective intelligence, with potential implications for designing better decision-making environments in society.
