SCIENTIFIC PROJECT

"Towards AI-Enhanced Writing Support for Spanish Technical Reports in Higher Education "

Writing academic texts is complex due to their diverse functions, knowledge-building potential, and disciplinary differences. In engineering, technical reports are essential for professional growth, yet Spanish-language writing support tools remain scarce, especially those integrating Corpus Linguistics and Genre-Based Pedagogy. This project enhances PEUMO (www.redilegra.com/peumo), a platform leveraging Natural Language Processing and Machine Learning models to provide automated feedback on lexical-grammatical, discourse, and writing process aspects. By integrating Generative AI, PEUMO enhances writing subprocesses—conceptualization, ideation, translation, transcription, and reconceptualization—improving adaptability, refining contextual feedback, and optimizing writing assistance. By fostering technical writing proficiency, this project helps reduce educational inequalities, promote equitable access to higher education (SDG 4), and strengthen evidence on AI-driven academic writing support.
