The execution of the "Final Solution" in France is divided in two phases in the non-occupied zone, later south zone. After the roud-ups of the summer 1942, done by the French police, a second period is opened from the summer 1943, because of changes related to France's situation and the collaboration with the French State. From there, most of the hunts and arrests in the former free zone will rest with the German police, reinforced by hundreds of ultra-collaborators who helped it to overcome its lack of manpower. It will be mostly those men who will carry out, for the occupation forces, thousands of arrests, and proceed at the same time to hundreds of summary executions from spring 1944, showing to what extend they agreed to the "Final Solution".
