As part of the GRHis/Triangle seminar "Libéraux et socialistes face à la violence (1889-1989)", Tommaso Giordani, historian in residence at the Collegium, will present his research on "Socialism without revolution: the tactical role of violence in Georges Sorel".
The aim of the seminar is to examine the relationship between liberals and socialists and political violence in general and revolutionary violence in particular, starting a century after 1789, when the Second International Socialist Movement was symbolically founded in Paris on 14 July.
Tommaso Giordani holds a PhD in History from the EUI (European University Institute) with a thesis on Georges Sorel. He has taught at Gonzaga University and worked on the ERC project 'Between the Times' in Tallinn. He is a 2024-25 Fellow of the Collegium de Lyon.
