Lia Epperson, Collegium de Lyon fellow, offers a discussion based on some themes covered in the film "Denial"
The film Denial details the legal case of American historian Dr. Deborah Lipstadt, sued for libel in U.K. court by David Irving whom she called a holocaust denier in her book Denying the Holocaust. We will watch excerpts from the film and discuss some of the critical themes it highlights, including freedom of speech, burdens of proof, and whether/how courts can mediate historical truth.
