New Inserm Fellowship
Following the signing of a three-year partnership agreement, international researchers wishing to join Inserm research teams at the Lyon-Saint-Étienne University can now apply for a fellowship from the Collegium de Lyon.
At the start of the 2026 academic year, Mariana Baz, an associate professor at CHU de Québec-Université Laval, will be the first recipient of this scheme. She will join the Institute for Advanced Studies at the Université de Lyon. Trained in Uruguay, Canada, and the United States, her research focuses on respiratory viruses, particularly their pathogenesis, transmission, antiviral therapies, and the development and evaluation of vaccines.
She will be hosted by the Centre International de Recherche en Infectiologie (CIRI). Her project will also strengthen the ties between the France–Canada RESPIVIR international research laboratory, uniting teams from the Centre for Research in Infectiology at Laval University and the CIRI (VirPath team) in their shared mission to advance translational research in respiratory infection.
This fellowship includes accommodation at the Collegium residence on the ENS Lyon campus, support with administrative procedures and integration into the interdisciplinary cohort of resident researchers. The Inserm call for applications for a research stay in 2027–2028 will open on 15 September.
