The Institute for Advanced Study (IAS) of the University of Lyon is pleased to announce a call for applications for Collegium fellowships, which will provide accommodation in its residence for one or two semesters from September 2025 to June 2026 (one-semester fellowships run from September to December/January and from January/February to June).

The Collegium fellowships include :
- all-inclusive housing in our residence on the ENS de Lyon campus,
- assistance with administrative formalities,
- and academic integration into our interdisciplinary cohort of international fellows.

The fellowships are open to scholars of any discipline who hold a professorship or an equivalent research position in an academic institution outside of France and who will remain formally employed by their home institution for the 2025-2026 academic year.

Applicants must be officially sponsored by a research unit belonging to a member institution of the University of Lyon. This unit will be the scientific co-host of the fellow throughout their stay at the Collegium. The Collegium staff can be contacted for assistance in identifying local research units in specific academic disciplines.

The application deadline is October 25, 2024 at noon (French time). The application platform will be available from mid-September. Eligible applications will be evaluated by the IAS's Scientific Advisory Board on the basis of the merits of the research project (strength, originality, interdisciplinary potential) and the final ranking will also take into account the disciplinary, gender, and geographic balance of the cohort of fellows to be assembled. Notification of acceptance will be sent to candidates in February 2025.

The application must include the following documents (in English and PDF format):

1. your academic curriculum vitae;

2. a copy of your passport;

3. a copy of your doctoral degree (with a certified translation into French or English if it is not in French or English);

4. your detailed research proposal;

5. a letter of support from the head of the targeted co-hosting research unit at the University of Lyon (please note that if a unit supports more than one candidate, the Scientific Advisory Board will ask the head to rank the different candidates);

6. an official letter from your home institution certifying that the employer-employee relationship will be maintained throughout the stay at the Collegium;

7. official proof of sufficient monthly funds — at least 1,500 euros — for all expenses other than accommodation while in Lyon (e.g. the notification of a paid sabbatical leave and/or of some grant funding).
