Talks and lectures
The fellows of the Collegium de Lyon are regularly invited to participate in the scientific activities in Lyon/Saint-Etienne, for student teaching as well as doctoral training, for academic conferences or for events intended for a broader audience. They occasionnally travel in France or abroad for relevant scientific events in their field of study.

As part of the research seminar organised by the Institut d'Asie Orientale (IAO), Shawn McHale, Professor of History at George Washington University (Washington, DC, USA) and currently in residence at the Collegium de Lyon, will present his research on "Peace, Violence and the Transformation of Vietnamese Buddhism (1900-1989)".

The Montaigne workshop is organised within the framework of LabEx COMOD (University of Lyon), in collaboration with the "Institut de recherches philosophiques de Lyon" (IRPhiL, Lyon 3), the "École Normale Supérieure de Paris" (Ulm), the Paris Centre of the University of Chicago, the "Institut universitaire de France" (IUF) and the "République des savoirs" (UAR).Alberto Frigo, researcher currently in residence at the Collegium de Lyon, will co-host the session on 6 December.

Excavations in 1880 on the island of Björkö in Sweden uncovered a tomb containing the remains of a valiant warrior. Alongside the skeleton were numerous artefacts, including a sword, a spear, an axe, arrows, and even the remains of two sacrificial horses. Recent studies in 2017 revealed that the warrior was, in fact, a woman. This article explores the representation of women warriors, from the Amazons to Lara Croft, through the lenses of archaeology and pop culture.It is presented in partnership with ALTEC.
